Description: Race through Calhoun, Isles, & Cedar Lakes in MinneapolisPlease print out registration form and mail in prior to July 8, 2011. Saturday, July 16th - LONG LAKE LAP Resiter Here What: Long Lake Lap When: July 16, 2011 - 8:00 AM Registration/sign-in; 9:00 start Registration form will be in April (check back here). Where: Long Lake, New Brighton, MN Who: racers of any level What does it cost? $20/person except $10/person for Scout Race and Youth/Barton Cup Description: a fundraiser for the Rice Creek Boat Club. Sanctioned by the United States Canoe Association. Course: 4, 8, 12 miles + (4, 5.5mi for Barton Cup) The course follows the shoreline of Long Lake and will start and finish at the public beach on the east side of the lake. You must pass between the shore and any/all "Slow - No Wake" posts, plus any other buoys marked on the map. Approximate location of these markers will be on the map provided day of race. The course is approximately 4 miles per lap. The portage is approx 350 yards and is on the SE portion of the lake from the point to the swimming beach. The portage will be marked. Youth and Scout Classes - 1 lap. Scout and Youth Classes Exhibition, Sea Kayak, Derby - 2 laps. Derby must take portages Open Racing, Solo Canoe and Performance Kayak - 3 laps, 3 portages. Barton Cup - Barton Cup will be 1lap no portage(age 9-11), 5.5mi 2 portages for older divisions Para-Canoe - distance and awards will be determined by late June. We are *very* pleased to offer this race and will work with the athletes to accommodate categories/needs Class Restrictions: Scout - (must be member of BSA or GSA group). Stock Aluminium canoes, no modifications. Wooden paddles. Youth (12-19 as of race day) - 3x27 pro-canoes, 4x32, no ICF boats Barton Cup - youth ages 9-11, 12-14, 15-17. Both C-1 and K-1 classes. Barton Cup Qualifier!!! Derby - Minnesota II, Jensen 18, Bell Northwoods, Old Town Penobscot, Alumicraft, etc. In other words, production touring canoes. Solo Canoe - 18'6" max length Open Racing - 3x27 pro-canoes, 4x32, no ICF boats Touring Kayak - two classes - 14'6" -17'11"; and 14'5" and less. No racing hulls. High Performance Kayak - ICF K1, Surf Ski, Fast Touring boats (Stratus, Epic18, EFT, etc) Exhibition - did we forget something? Maybe a K2, ICF canoe or Texas boat? Bring it on! NOTE: The goal of having classes is to make for fair, fun racing. The measurer/race committee will have the final say regarding any questionable boat/class combinations. Any boat not fitting the spirit, not simply the definition of the rules, will be bumped into either Open Racing or Exhibition, depending on the view of the race committee. If you aren't sure where your particular boat fits, ASK!!! Prizes - not many - this is a fundraiser! Awards to class winners. Trophy for Scout race. Special trophies for Barton Cup. 100% of the proceeds from this race go to the Rice Creek Boat Club. The Club is a United States Canoe Association Club Affiliate. The club's mission is to provide a fitness program for high school age youth interested in flatwater canoe and kayak racing. Funds raised will help with maintenance and upkeep of equipment, and help subsidize entry fees/travel for the kids to other races, including Nationals. Saturday, July 16th - LONG LAKE SPRINT Qualifiers What: Long Lake Sprint Qualifiers When: July 16, 2011 - Registration/sign-in 4:30-5:30; 7:00pm start Registration form will be in May (check back here). Where: Long Lake, New Brighton, MN Who: all ages, classes for pro and rec canoe/kayak; ICF Canoe/Kayak (C/K-1, 2, 4), Para Canoe and Kayak What does it cost? $20/person except $10/person for Scout Race and Youth/Barton Cup Description: a fundraiser for the Rice Creek Boat Club. Sanctioned by the United States Canoe Association. Course: 200, 500meter time trial. Top 16 to advance to Sunday morning. Non-advancing boats to mass start 2000meter race Sunday morning as well. BBQ at the venue!
